Experience shows that the Round Table is not a good forum for more complex discussions. The participants change from one meeting to the next and arguments need to be restated. This takes time and focus away, that's why the discussion is outsourced into Work Groups.
This is a defined group of members, which meets several times and goes down the rabbit hole of arguments.
Main goal is to be able to present options to the Round Table, which would approve the plans.
Subgroups might be formed, to handle parts of the discussion.
Polls can be set up, to gather opinions of all members.
A Work Group is organized by its Head. This person is the main driver of the Work Group. She or he sets up the meetings, moderates the discussion and compiles the presentation for the Round Table.
If you are charged with setting up a WG by the Round Table or the Vorstand, these are the steps:
The Head posts the outcome to the chat, announce its finalisation and steps back as Head. A WG with no head is a WG no more. But we keep the chat and the pad for future reference.
