When working on the band saw machine, there is a high risk of injury due to the hand slipping off the workpiece and accidentally touching the running band saw blade. Arc cutting work is particularly dangerous.
The most common causes of injuries are:
- Slipping off the workpiece
- No secure guidance of the workpiece
- Breakage of the saw blade

¶ Check list before cutting
- Ensure that the saw blade is correctly aligned on the bandsaw roller and that the saw blade guide is correctly adjusted.
- Only sharp, crack-free and sufficiently set bandsaw blades may be used.
¶ Clean up
- Pull out the mains plug
- Vacuum up any waste
- open the bottom door and take out sections
- set up the machine as compactly as possible so that no parts protrude.
- Put the saw back in the corner
