DO NOT use the circular table saw without having received instructions and official permission from an authorized person.
Circular table saws are the machines with the highest proportion of machine running times in carpentry/joinery. Serious accidents often occur on these machines due to improper handling and inadequate or incompletely installed protective equipment.
When working with a table saw or sliding table saw, there is a high risk of contact with the saw blade and workpieces kicking back.
The most common causes of accidents are:
- unsafe workpiece guidance
- missing or incorrectly adjusted riving knife
- incorrectly adjusted or unused upper guard
- loss of control over the workpiece
- incorrect adjustment of the stops
There is a particular risk when cutting narrow workpieces, for example.
If you break the rules layed out on this page, your permission can be revoked.
- contact: Please ask in the #hobelhoehle channel to receive a personal introduction
Please read the Space Rules first, especially the sections on "safety" and "use of machinery".
This page is intended as a reminder and does NOT replace a personal introduction to the circular saw.

- Eye protection (if necessary)
- Hearing protection (for everyone in the room)
- Do not touch the saw blade when it is coming to a stop. The SawStop AIM technology is still active will be triggered upon contact.
- The cartridge AND the saw blade must be replaced. Never use warped saw blades or saw blades with cracked or broken teeth.
- Do not wear gloves.
- As the machine table is very short, it is advisable to get a second person to help with the removal. This person may only pull on the workpiece as soon as you have pushed it past the saw blade and no longer exert any pressure.
- When feeding the workpiece, do not place your hands on the workpiece in the area of the cutting plane.
- Always set the protective bonnet to the height of the workpiece.
- Feed the workpieces at a constant speed and constant pressure.
- If possible, use suitable aids such as a push stick, a pushing aid for sawing wood, build one if necessary.
- Only use the push stick to remove workpieces or workpiece parts in the area of the circular saw blade.
- Do not work on workpieces that are too small, make sure that they are large enough to be guided safely outside the danger zone, if there is no other way, build yourself a template.
- area of flying workpieces and workpiece parts observe for all persons.
- SawStop AIM technology is a cartridge that uses a spring to drive an aluminium block into the saw blade, should it come into contact with a conductive material, for example human skin, during operation. Other conductive materials include non-ferrous metals, wet or statically charged materials, metal-coated materials, metallic saw stops, etc.
- Checking conductivity
Function monitoring
The conductivity of materials can be tested
in advance to prevent accidental triggers.
- Press the green main switch
→ is ready for operation.
- Hold the material against the saw blade:
› Green LED is constantly lit, red LED is off
→ Material is not conductive.
› Green LED is constantly lit, red LED flashes quickly
→ Material is conductive. Work in bypass mode.
- there is no danger from foreign bodies, cracks and loose knots in the workpiece,
- a suitable saw blade is selected for the material and the operation, e.g. for longitudinal or cross cuts in solid wood, panel materials or plastics.
- only sharp and crack-free, undamaged circular saw blades are used.
- no "HSS" circular saw blades are used.
- tools such as the push stick, the sliding timber, the feed aids are ready to hand on the machine.
- the rip fence is switched to a lower guide surface for narrow workpieces, - the rip fence is retracted far enough to prevent the workpiece from jamming.
-
When sawing conductive materials, always deactivate the SawStop AIM technology using Bypass mode, e.g. non-ferrous metals, wet or statically charged materials, materials with a metal coating, metal stops on the saw or similar. materials, materials with a metal coating, metal stops on the saw, etc.
-
Only use bypass mode to saw conductive materials. When working in bypass mode, the SawStop AIM technology will not stop the saw blade upon contact with skin and so injuries can occur.
- Press and hold the yellow SawStop AIM technology switch [6]. Red LED
[5] flashes once, then without letting go, immediately press the green
START button [3]. The TKS 80 starts up. The red LED [5] flashes again
once.
- Release the yellow SawStop AIM technology switch [6] and the green
START button [3]. Green LED [4] flashes slowly, red LED [5] is off. The
TKS 80 is ready for use in bypass mode.
- Each time the saw is started up again, the SawStop AIM technology is
reactivated. When working again with conductive materials, the bypass
mode must be reactivated.
- Ensure that the appliance is securely positioned.
- connect the hoover, its a bit tricky at the moment.
- connect the appliance to the socket of the hoover.
- make sure that the saw blade cover is installed. Only remove it if absolutely necessary.
- Adjust the height of the saw blade so that it protrudes approx. 1 cm from the workpiece but there is sufficient clearance from the protective cover.
- the parallel fence should be set so that the workpiece is not clamped behind the riving knife. If necessary, this can be rotated for small workpieces to provide sufficient space for the push stick.
- Feed 120 mm (better 150 mm) to the left and right of the workpiece ONLY with suitable pushing aid.
- To switch on the machine, press the green main switch [1].
- The TKS 80 performs a self-check (green light is on, red light is flashing).
- Wait until the red LED goes out.
→ The TKS 80 is then in standby mode.
- Press the green START button [3].
- The TKS 80 is in sawing mode.
- The SawStop AIM technology is activated.
Switching off
To switch off sawing mode, press the red STOP button [2].
Wait until the saw blade has come to a stop.
- Pull out the mains plug and wind it up again on the machine
- Vacuum up any waste
- Return pushing aid
- If removed, refit the sawblade protective cover.
- set up the machine as compactly as possible so that no parts protrude.
- Return safety gear
Return information for triggered
SawStop AIM technology
The cartridges save electronic data meas-
ured when the technology was triggered.
If you return the activated cartridge to
Festool, we can retrieve that data to
analyze how the electronics and software
performed.
If we confirm that your cartridge activated
due to skin contact, you get the chance
to receive a free replacement cartridge.
Festool reserves the right to decide about
such cases individually.
Please let us know your name and a
contact opportunity (email address, phone
number, address), so that we can get in
touch with you by phone or in writing.
