DO NOT use the the lathe without having received instructions and official permission from an authorized person.
Please read the Space Rules first, especially the sections on "safety" and "use of machinery".
This page is intended as a reminder and does NOT replace a personal introduction to the lathe.
If you break the rules layed out on this page, your permission can be revoked.
The Late is a Machine to work primary with Metall or Plastics.
Brass is a good Option to Start, Aluminium, Toolsteel and Bronze is ok to.
For Plastics, POM, PTFE and PVC are a good option.
If you try a new Material you have not used before, read about the Tool Geometry first.
For Example: Brass and Plastics tend to 'dig in' if you use the Positive cutting angles.
Keep in Mind, the Lathe rotates a huge Mass at very high speeds and is quite dangerous.
Neighbours don't like the noise: no using machines between 19:30-9:00 and on Sundays.

5C Collets are more "Precision Oriented"
They have a fairly small size tollerance +0.05mm/-0.3mm
ALWAYS the closes bigger Collet, never smaller (3.85mm Stock → 4mm Collet | 5.2mm Stock → don't use the Collets, use the 3-Jaw first to get down to <5mm)
There is a small Pin in the Collet Chuck, the Collets have a matching Groove. Always get that matching first before you start tightening the Collet or you'll break the Pin and you have to disassemble the Chuck from the back (Which is a Royal Pain in the Butt)
