The Proxxon Thermocut will cut styrofoam and thermoplastic foils, according to proxxon.
Cutting of almost all foam materials is possible, within reason.
If your material gives of noxious fumes while being heated, this is not the right tool.
Find a well ventilated area to set up. It is melting through plastic and smells accordingly.
MAKE SURE MACHINE IS OFF!
Check if the wire is in place. It should be running from a small spool on top pf the metal arm, through a groove on the sliding holder, straight down into the hole in the table.
It should be under a bit of tension.
If any of this is not the case:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Turn the big black knob on the machines left side about half a rotation away from you (It will not turn further anyway).
Unlock the spool with the screw on top and fiddle the wire into the hole in the table.
If you forgot to turn off the machine, you will notice now, because it will burn your fingers.
Turn the big knob towards you, this locks the wire in the table.
Spool up any slack onto the spool.
Bend the arm gently down, spool the additional slack up, lock the spool with the screw and let go of the arm.
The wire should now be running in the little grove and be under tension.
Adjust for squareness as needed.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Adjust the heatingdial (left hand side) to "1" and turn on cutter.
Indicator LED will turn on.
Test-cut and adjust dial upwards as needed.
Be patient and gentle, it's a 0,2mm, red-hot wire, it will react accordingly if stretched.
