¶ xHAIN e.V.
We've made it, xHain is a registered association. We already started with the infrastructure setup, but this will take a few weeks to finished. There will be an announcement when you can apply to xHain e.V. as a member and change your bank transfer details.
This effort took over 3 years and several stages, and a lot of members joined this endeavour. A big THANKS to all of them!
¶ xHAIN IS TURNING 10
On Wednesday May 13th xHain will turn 10 years. We also trippled our location count and became a Verein. Three good reasons to celebrate this day in a proper way. We will start off with coffee&cake at 16:00 and slowly transitioning into party&potluck around 19:00.
Please join the celebration with snacks and/or beverages and/or activities. You can bring guests and we will invite all our neighbours.
There will be other events to commemorate the last 10 years, keep an eye on our calendar.
¶ MOVING INTO G18
The renovations are done for now \o/ but we have to build some infrastructure before actually moving in. The kitchen aka. Kombüse is being installed right now and this will take another week. 3D-Lab, Textiles, xPress and Jewelry started to set up shelves and tables, and preparing the move in.
The last step blocking the move is the door setup, because before all members can unlock G18 we can't put any tools in. This is handled by a Work Group and will take around 2 weeks.
¶ HOBELHÖHLE
🙏 Another appeal for donations 🙏:
Band saw blades break regularly, at fairly short intervals; the new one is already blunt after just two weeks, and teeth are missing from the circular saw blades.
Drill bits become blunt, and consumables such as glues, abrasives and fasteners are used up at will.
At the moment, a pin on the band saw’s plug is bent and the table saw is making strange noises, and who knows what else...
All of this is normal and to be expected; things happen, things break.
To cover the cost of replacing consumables and wear-and-tear items, we rely on your donations. 💸
So please remember to feed Scratch. 🐿️
On top of that, someone has to take care of it. 🫶
Please bear this in mind when you use the hobelhoehle.

Hello, this is Rechenwerk, the new branch in xHain tasked with coordinating the software written and used for xHain.

¶ Offene Werkstatt / Open Lab
On Tuesday May 12th and 26th at 17:00 to 20:00 there is an Offene Werkstatt / Open Lab by Jugend hackt for teenagers from 12 to 18 years.

On 19th to 21st June (Friday to Sunday) there will be another Hackathon for 12- to 18-year-olds at Theater an der Parkaue.

Helping out at Jugend hackt 2026
Jugend hackt is still looking for mentors who will support and facilitate the teenagers' coding and making projects on 19th to 21st June (Friday to Sunday) at Theater an der Parkaue. Whether you've got practical/technical skills or pedagogical expertise, your contribution is helpful. All new Jugend hackt mentors are prepared for their task in a short introduction on how to mentor teenagers 
Please note that the introduction to mentoring will be in German spoken language.
Supporters who will help with supervising our makespace area (soldering, 3D printing, lasercutting, plotting, embroidery stitching, ...) or with logistics (transporting stuff, setup & teardown, preparing snacks, ...) are welcome, too!

¶ ENTING DECISIONS
¶ 89 (2026-05-02) New Textile Curator
Accepted Proposal: Ronja becomes Curator of Textiles.
Reasoning: She wants to be more involved, and is excited to do things for both Goldsmithing and Textiles. We talked about it in February or so and she's been already doing acting as such since. Both Ivo and Núria agree.
¶ 90 (2026-05-04) New LaserLab Curator
Accepted Proposal: Anita becomes Curator of LaserLab.
Reasoning: She takes care for the microscope and can help taking care of the Lab.
¶ VORSTAND DECISIONS
¶ 2. Joining Verbund offerener Werkstätten (2026-04-01)
Proposal: The association will join the Network of Open Workshops (Verbund offerener Werkstätten) and take out liability and accident insurance through it. Max has been tasked with implementing this.
Rationale: It's good to be insured.
¶ 3. Branch Rechenwerk (2026-04-01)
Proposal: Founding of a new Branch called Rechenwerk, which is about developing and maintaining software for xHain. Multi (tthisismulti) is named Curator.
Reasoning: A lot of different self written software is used at xHain. This branch will coordinate the development, documentation and maintenance of those software projects as well as manage where code is stored. The branch will not take care of the infrastructure itself.
